Telenor's Norwegian network is AS2119, registered at RIPE under the AS name TELENOR-NEXTEL and held by the organisation object ORG-NA38-RIPE, Telenor Norge AS, at Snaroyveien 30 in Fornebu, just west of Oslo. The aut-num is flagged LEGACY, meaning the number predates RIPE NCC allocation policy, and the object was created on 31 July 2002 and last modified on 20 August 2026. RIPEstat currently lists 95 IPv4 routes and 17 IPv6 routes originating from it, the largest being the 88.88.0.0/13 allocation, and bgp.he.net's independent count of 94 and 17 puts roughly 4.25 million IPv4 addresses behind that announced space.

What does a Telenor IP mean in a privacy test?
AS2119 is not one product. Telenor's own address space carries a mix of netnames - dated allocations such as NO-TELENOR-20040513, 1990s legacy blocks called NORTELE or COMMANET, and service assignments such as NO-TELENOR-DSL-3 and NO-MOBIL-BROADBAND-4 - while the reverse DNS splits it again by service: fixed broadband answers under the online.no domain, mobile data under telenormobil.no, and static business lines under a cust.telenor.net zone of their own. None of that tells you the ASN is Telenor's traffic and only Telenor's. Of the 95 IPv4 prefixes RIPEstat currently shows AS2119 announcing, 44 sit inside a RIPE inetnum registered to somebody else - NAV, the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, plus Statkraft, Aker Solutions, Vinmonopolet and several municipalities. A match on this ASN says the traffic is riding Telenor's Norwegian network. It does not say whose traffic that is.
What RIPE holds on AS2119, and what Telenor adds itself
Telenor publishes no allowlist and no geofeed for this network. None of the 63 inetnums or 9 inet6nums registered to its organisation object carry a geofeed: attribute, so the RIPE database is the only machine-readable source, and the aut-num for AS2119 gives more operational detail than most: an admin contact at THA-RIPE, a technical contact at TRR5-RIPE, a peering address of peering@telenor.net, a 24-hour NOC line at +47 81555760 backed by noc@telenor.net, and an abuse address of abuse@telenor.net. It also publishes its own BGP communities in the object itself, down to 2119:995 for a customer-triggered blackhole and separate do-not-announce and prepend communities scoped to specific upstreams, Lumen (AS3356) and Arelion (AS1299) by name. The inetnums underneath follow no single convention. Newer allocations are netname NO-TELENOR- plus the allocation date, so 88.88.0.0/13 reads as NO-TELENOR-20051125 and 2.148.0.0/14 as NO-TELENOR-20101022, both ALLOCATED PA under the same organisation object - but the 1990s legacy blocks are named NORTELE, COMMANET or TELENOR, the dated ones from before 2000 use a six-digit date instead (NO-TELENOR-961118), and the assignments nested inside carry service names rather than dates, among them NO-TELENOR-DSL-3, NO-MOBIL-BROADBAND-4 and NO-NEXTRA-ADSL-1. The organisation handle, not the netname, is the stable key.
That organisation object, ORG-NA38-RIPE, is worth reading before trusting it as a filter, because it is not Telenor-only. RIPE's RDAP record for it lists twelve autonomous systems, and alongside AS2119, AS8210 (TELENOR) and AS8786 (TELENOR-MOBIL) it also lists AS196788 (AKER-ASA) and AS28795 (ELKEM-AS), companies with no relation to the Telenor Group. Telenor Norge AS is the RIPE NCC LIR that sponsored those numbers, so the same org handle turns up on networks it does not operate. Telenor's own PeeringDB record, filed under net id 458, names the routing-registry set it filters on, AS-TELENOR, and that set is wider than AS2119 alone: its RIPE definition lists AS2119 next to three sub-sets, AS-TELENORCUST for customer routes and AS-TELENORNO and AS-TELENORSE for the Norwegian and Swedish sides. The same PeeringDB record declares filter thresholds of 1,500 IPv4 and 300 IPv6 prefixes, which sit well above what is actually routed today.
One ASN, four reverse-DNS zones, and blocks that are not Telenor's
Query a live address in each part of this network and four different zones answer. A fixed broadband address inside 85.164.0.0/14, or the older 84.202.0.0/16, comes back hex-encoded under online.no, the domain named after Telenor's old Online broadband brand - 85.164.5.5 answers as 55a40505.bb.online.no. A customer address on static-IP space such as 213.142.64.0/19, which by its own netname NO-TELENOR-20000320 is the oldest allocation cited here rather than the newest, answers in reversed dotted form under a static.cust.telenor.net zone instead, and mobile data sessions inside blocks like 77.16.0.0/14 or 2.148.0.0/14 answer a third way again, dotted decimal under tmi.telenormobil.no. Within that same fixed-broadband space a low address such as 84.202.1.1 answers under a fourth name entirely, 54ca0101-gw.ti.telenor.net - not a subscriber at all but a gateway or infrastructure address, hex-encoded like the broadband pool but rooted in a different zone. None of this is published as a rule anywhere; it is read straight from working PTR lookups against the live zones.
What none of that buys you is certainty that the address is Telenor's own traffic, or even Norwegian. Registration is not the same as carriage: of the 95 IPv4 prefixes RIPEstat currently shows AS2119 announcing, 44 sit inside a RIPE inetnum registered to an organisation other than Telenor. 155.55.0.0/17 and 155.55.128.0/18 belong to NAV, the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration, and nothing answers a PTR lookup anywhere sampled inside them; 150.106.0.0/16 is Statkraft, 155.209.0.0/16 is Aker Solutions, 193.160.4.0/22 is Vinmonopolet and 158.150.0.0/16 is Kristiansand municipality. Two of the 44 are not registered in Norway at all - 80.69.224.0/20 is Eniro Sverige and 134.146.194.0/24 is Shell Information Technology International in the Netherlands. Nor is this ASN the Telenor Group: Telenor Sverige AB announces from its own numbers, AS8642 and AS8434, so a Telenor line in Sweden will not carry this one. Telenor carries these routes; it does not own most of what it carries.

Telenor is carrying those routes, not necessarily generating the traffic on them.
How do I check whether an address belongs to Telenor?
Run a whois or RDAP lookup and read the organisation handle rather than the netname: Telenor's own space sits under ORG-NA38-RIPE, whereas the netnames vary widely, from NO-TELENOR- plus a date to NORTELE, NO-TELENOR-DSL-3 and NO-MOBIL-BROADBAND-4. Even the org handle is not conclusive, since Telenor Norge AS is the sponsoring LIR for unrelated networks such as AKER-ASA and ELKEM-AS. A reverse-DNS lookup narrows it further - online.no marks fixed broadband, telenormobil.no marks mobile data, and cust.telenor.net marks a static business line.
What does this page not prove?
It does not prove the traffic is Telenor's own: 44 of the 95 IPv4 prefixes AS2119 currently announces are registered in RIPE to other organisations, from NAV to Statkraft to Kristiansand municipality, so a match on this ASN can simply mean Telenor is carrying somebody else's block. It does not prove the connection is in Norway either, since two of those blocks, 80.69.224.0/20 and 134.146.194.0/24, are registered in Sweden and the Netherlands. And it says nothing about the rest of the Telenor Group: Telenor Sverige AB announces from AS8642 and AS8434, not from this number.
