About Katia Belokon
I'm a privacy researcher and VPN analyst based in Europe. I've been doing one thing: testing whether privacy tools actually work — or just claim to.
Most VPN reviews are written by people who've never run a leak test. I got tired of that. So I built my own testing methodology and started publishing results that reflect reality, not marketing budgets.
What I Actually Do
Every VPN I review goes through the same process: WebRTC leak test, DNS leak test, IPv6 leak test, kill switch verification, and real-world speed measurements from US, UK, and EU endpoints. I use a 500 Mbps fiber connection for all speed tests. I test on Windows 11 and macOS Sonoma. I document everything.
I've evaluated more than 50 VPN services. Some surprised me. Most didn't.
Why MyIPScan
I built the tools on this site because I needed them myself. The WebRTC leak test, the DNS lookup, the IP checker — these are the exact tools I use when testing VPNs. Now anyone can use them for free, no account required.
If your VPN is leaking your real IP address, you deserve to know. That's the whole point of this site.
My Standards
No VPN provider has ever paid for coverage or influenced my conclusions. When I recommend a product, it's because it passed my tests — not because someone wrote me a check. Affiliate relationships are disclosed. Testing methodology is transparent. If I can't verify a claim, I don't publish it.
Background
Before focusing on VPN research, I contributed to open-source privacy projects and advised independent researchers on operational security. My background is in computer networks.
Outside of testing, I answer privacy questions in r/privacy and r/VPN. Real questions from real people — that's where I learn what actually matters to users.
